How do I book an appointment?

Start with a free consultation via our online booking system. During this call we discuss your idea, placement and style. Then we schedule the tattoo session together.

How much does a tattoo cost?

Our prices start at €100 for small tattoos. The exact price depends on size, detail and placement. We always discuss costs upfront during your free consultation.

How do I prepare for my session?

Eat a good meal before your session, make sure you’re well-rested, and shower before your appointment. Avoid drinking alcohol the night before. Wear comfortable, dark clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed. And most importantly, don’t worry too much, it’s all going to turn out great with your piece of art!

Can I bring my own design?

Yes! Reference images are always welcome. Our artists work with you to develop a unique design that suits your body and style.

Can I also discuss my idea by videocall?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely! We offer video calls every weekday at 8:00 PM. A video call can be booked using the same link as an in-store consultation. We’ll call you via WhatsApp and send you a message beforehand.

During the video call, we discuss exactly the same topics as we would during an in-store consultation, making it a convenient option if you have a long distance to travel.

How painful is a tattoo?

Most people describe it as a sharp, scratching sensation. It can be uncomfortable, but it’s not unbearable. Pain is different for everyone and depends on the placement on the body, the length of the session, and the style of the tattoo.

Are you worried about the pain? Let your artist know and we’ll talk you through it and make sure you feel as comfortable as possible!

Does the placement on my body affect how much it hurts?

Yes, definitely. Some areas of the body are more sensitive than others, thin skin over bone (such as the ribs, collarbone, or foot) tends to feel more intense than fleshier areas (like the upper arm or thigh). That said, pain is experienced differently by everyone. What feels sharp to one person feels quite manageable to another. Not sure about a placement? Bring it up during the consultation, your artist will help you make a well-considered choice.

How long does a session last?

There’s no fixed duration for tattoo appointments. Full-day sessions typically run from 11:00 to 17:00, while smaller tattoos can vary anywhere from 1 to 4 hours. During the consultation, we’ll work with you to determine how much time your specific project will need.

Can I take a break during the session?

Accepted Answer

Of course! Breaks are never a problem. We always make time for them. During longer sessions, there will always be one or more breaks to eat, stretch, and relax.

How do I care for my new tattoo?

Accepted Answer

Apply a thin layer of the recommended aftercare to the tattoo twice a day. Avoid sun exposure, swimming pools, saunas, and tanning beds for at least 4 weeks. For full aftercare instructions, please read our aftercare page.

How long does healing take?

Accepted Answer

The outer layer heals in 4 -6 weeks. Deeper layers can take longer depending on the style and location of the tattoo.

Do you offer free touch-up sessions?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we offer one free touch-up session per tattoo within 3 months of your appointment. Four weeks after your tattoo session, you’ll receive an automatic email allowing you to schedule a touch-up if needed.

Where is the studio?

Our studio is located on Straatweg 86 in Breukelen. We are straight across from the Hema.

Who are the artists?

Accepted Answer

Illusion Ink has four artists: Iris, Roxanne, Ian and Febe. Each has their own style and specialty. During the consultation we look together for the best match for your project. Read more on ourteam page.

Can I bring someone to my appointment?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can bring one person to your appointment. Please keep the company at only one, this way we can insure everyone has enough space in our studio.

Where can i park?

Accepted Answer

Parking in the center of Breukelen is free. Around the shops, from Tuesday to Saturday between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, there is a blue zone: a maximum of 2 hours with a parking disc. A part of the parking lots is free parking without the blue zone.

Can i reach the studio by public transport?

Accepted Answer

Yes, that’s possible. Breukelen Station is on the line between Amsterdam Central and Utrecht Central, with direct connections from both cities. From the station, it’s about a 10 to 15-minute walk to the studio, or you can take line 120, which runs every fifteen minutes toward the Markt stop, close to the studio.

Do you do cover-ups?

Yes, we do cover-ups, but whether one is possible always depends on the existing tattoo. Size, colour, and age all play a role. The first step is a free intro call: we look at what's there, talk through what you want, and give you an honest picture of what's achievable. Book a call and we'll work it out together.
